So I guess I am making blogging a yearly event now? I have been at Dimensions 3 years and we are even in a new building. I still enjoy making people look fabulous. Grace is in 6th grade and is at a new school (her school system consolidated and now they have two schools. One K-2 and the other 3-6.) She just finished her last year of NKYFL cheer, loves girl scouts, Glow and youth group. She will be starting tumbling and cheer this month too. I guess time really does fly when you are having fun. I filled my life up with busy work here and there and until today when I saw the link to my blog on a friends blog I had forgot I even had one.
Life will slow down a little now though. This was the last football season I will be coaching the North Knox Youth Football League Cheerleaders (3-6 grade). I am glad I got the chance to start the program back up and I really hope that someone will continue it in the years to come.
I am still enjoying working with the high school dance team and have even started a Jr. High dance team with the help of a very talented young lady. Their names are the Red Hots. Cute right? They are so adorable and seem so very young compared to my big girls. Watching the new girls on the high school team and the jr. high girls learn and grow over these pasts few months has been a blessing to me for sure!
Garry and I are teaching the Grapple kids (4-6 graders) on Wednesday night at FBC Bicknell. I love it.....most of the time ;) The kids are wonderful and challenging all at the same time. We just started a new series on the movie "Soul Surfer". They are soaking it all up like little sponges. I am going to have to make a whole separate blog for that subject alone. I am pretty sure those kids are changing my life as much if not more than I am theirs.
Well, that is pretty much catches you up. Maybe if I wait another year to blog I will have more to say LOL
My life may seem a little messy looking from the outside in. Trust me, I know where everthing is at :)

It's been a year
It's been a little over a year since I have blogged! Dimensions just celebrated the 2 year mark. I still love it lots and lots.
Grace is playing fast-pitch softball this summer and she is having a really good time. She enjoys the chanting in the dugout just as much as she likes to play.
Garry started a new job at Westport Auto. He will be working in the parts department and I think he will like it a lot better than Bill Dobson Ford. I pray that this can be his forever job.
I have 9 girls on the dance team this year. We just got back from camp. It started out a little rocky but by the end of the camp they were doing very well. I am looking forward to an amazing year with them.
Becky and I are trading babysitting this summer. It really will work out well for Grace for sure. She gets bored just hanging out with Mom all the time.
We don't have any plans for summer yet. I am hoping to get to do at least one fun trip as a family before Grace has to go back to school. School starts August 10th! Gets earlier every year for sure.

One year and counting
On June 9th I will have been at Dimensions for one year. I can't believe it has been one year already!!!! I don't regret leaving J.C. Penney's. My life if much better for it. I LURVE all my girls I work with. I couldn't ask for a better group of girls. They put up with all of my annoying little quirks (of which I have many) and still yell a "bye I love you" at me as I walk out the door. I am blessed to be able to work with good people and do what I love. Garry has been so supportive and really helped convince me that it would be ok to step out of my comfort zone and embrace my new life as a self employed person. I won't lie, it is scary sometimes and somewhat stressful. The freedom I have now over my own scheduling is way worth it.

When Cats Have Wings

I read an article today that was all about a 1 year old cat that sprouted wings. It was a normal little kitten until it hit it's 1 year old birthday and then POOF it started to grow little wing like appendages. All of the scientists have suggestions as to how the winged cat occured but alas they have no concrete evidence as to how or why it really happended. I think I know why the cat grew the tiny wings, (besides being adorable with wings) God wanted that cat to have wings. Enough said. Why do they have to know WHY all the time. Maybe somebody somewhere thought to themselves, "If only God could give cats wings, then I would really know He was there and could believe". Trust me, I have been that bratty kid that needs to be "shown" and I am sure stranger things have been asked of Him. The owners say the cat is happy and healthy and in no pain. Nothing bad has come from the cat getting the wings. So I say that if God thinks it's cool to have winged cats then it's cool with me too.

Random Chatty News
I haven't blogged in a while. It isn't because there isn't much going on in my life. There is always SOMETHING. I am just not very good at the written word. Here are a few things that are going on right now....
All of the fish died in the fish tank or as Becky put it, the pond turned over. Garry cleaned it all out and now we have new ones. Yay Garry!
A stray-ish cat adopted us. I suspect that it belongs to someone nearby but he likes us better. Grace named him Ken. His name was Princess first until we discovered she was a he.
I'm signed up to go on The Walk in the fall. Garry might go too and if he gets to go in the fall he gets to go before me. *Insert pouty face here* LOL
I'm reading a book that has zero value except for entertainment. It's called Many Bloody Returns. It is several short stories by lots of different people. I got it because I like Charline Harris (The Sookie Stackhouse Novels) and she is one of the writers. It is ok. Most of the other writers I found boring. But, I started it so I will finish it. That is how I roll.
I have been super busy at work. That is a good thing because I have to pay that guy named Bill. He takes all my money.
Garry took Spring Break off with Grace. They had a lot of fun together. We ended up going to the Indy Zoo and the Indiana State Museum on that Monday. Grace had a blast. It must have been the perfect weather because most of the animals were up and moving around. Especially the monkeys. They got a little X rated so we didn't hang out too long with them! After our long day we ate at the Golden Corral and I got food poisoning...good times.
Becky helped me out with Warriorette try-outs and I now have 14 girls on the team. We will see how many stick with it until the end of the year. Really I would have been thrilled with like 6 girls. I have my work cut out for me for sure.
Grace is going to dance again at Jean Marie's. I thought she would never want to do any kind of dance ANYWHERE after what happened at her last dance school. She is having a good time. She says it is a little too easy. I told her to just do her very best and make those easy moves as graceful as she can. She loves the tumbling class too.
The talent show that I organize at Grace's school is coming up. Grace wants to do a hip hop dance with her friends. She wants ME to teach them one. I know! Me!? Well, I will do my best and there is always youtube to help us out. The kids really have a good time and for some of them it is a really big deal, for some of the parents too. Some get a little "Stage Mom" on me. But, I don't do it for them I do it for the kids and they can get over it :)
Grace has a birthday coming up. She will be 9. That just blows my mind. I took her and some friends to the beauty college to get their nails done and their hair curled. Then I took them to J.C. Penney's and bought them all a matching shirt to wear to school. They had a good time. On her actual birthday we will take her out to eat somewhere that will sing to her and then go bowling. On the Sunday after her birthday we will have her skating party. If you count the treat bags at her school with everything else the child has 4 birthday parties. I know, it's all my doing. I take all the responsibilty for the spoiling!
We had to replace just about every stitch of spring and summer clothing Grace had. I got out her clothes from storage and NOTHING fit her from last year. Boo at that for sure! We went on a little shopping spree and got her all new clothes and shoes. Come to find out her shoes she has been wearing are a full size to small! She didn't say a word about it. Silly child. I don't feel so bad about it because she could have told me they were too small. I only felt bad when she was little and couldn't tell me I was cramming her foot into a too small shoe (yes I did that...Mother of the Year here). All is taken care of now and we should be good to go for both spring and summer.
A new store moved in next door to the salon. Nice right? No. Not really. You must be 18 to enter if that gives you any clue as to what they might be selling there. We all run to the window to see who is coming in and out. People sprint from their cars to the door of that store and from the store they clutch the tell all brown paper sacks to their chests and run equally fast back to their vehicles. If you have to feel quilty about going in and buying something from a store....maybe you shouldn't. Just saying.
Well that is all I have time for right now. I hope you have enjoyed my random thoughts.

Love the not so lovable
I have a little old lady that drive me batty. She wants me to curl her hair using no product, no teasing it and NO HAIRSPRAY. Then you know what she does the next week she comes in? DO YOU KNOW? She yells at me for her hair not staying. She tells me she hates my hair no matter how I wear it. She comes 15 minutes early and sits and stares at me and huffs like a bull the whole time she is waiting. She threatens me that she is going to go to J.C. Penney's to get her hair done because I just don't give her the time she wants (she was in the nursing home for a month and a half and I didn't keep her standing open, so when she came back it took a few weeks to get the EXACT time she wanted....it was only one hour later one time.) She tells me I am way to heavy for my height and that I scrub her head to hard. Then she tells me I didn't get in good enough behind her ears and neckline when I shampoo her hair. She smells like B.O. and pee. She has a mullet. Yes. The elusive female mullet. Did I mention that I love that little old lady? Everytime she leaves I tell her how good it was to see her this week and I look forward to seeing her next week. Most of the time I even mean it. :) She only gets out once a week and it is to come see me. The rest of the time she is stuck in the house. I get a feeling she is treating me like she would her family. Kind of backward way of showing someone you like them by telling them how bad they suck and that you hate their hair do, but it is her way. She has taught me patience. I thank God for putting her in my life.
She tells me at least once a month she wants me to do her hair for her funeral. I will do it and I won't use any hairspray.

Shhhhh
Be still. Be silent and listen to Him. He is always speaking to you. You just have to sit still long enough to hear. Shhhhh. Listen. Be patient. He is with you.

Sunday events.
The Boyles family came over on Sunday to hang out and witness the shaving of Seth's head and give him moral support. He was a tad nervous I think. A drastic cut like that can take a bit of time to get used to. He survived it and it looks really nice on him. I don't know how thrilled he is about it yet, but I like it. That is what counts right? Just playin'. Thanks for letting me get my hair high from shaving your head Seth. It's not every day that I get to do that. It isn't as good as a God buzz (that is for you Becky and Lauren) but thanks just the same :)
It was getting kind of late in the day and of course the kids come out of Grace's room begging for food as usual. I said no at first but then I realized what time it was and told them to go ahead after a few choruses of PLEASE from Tali and Grace. They skipped into the kitchen and ran back into the room with their prized peel cheese. Just as they closed the door I heard one of them say "See whining works every time!" I thought it was Tali that said it so I teased Becky about it, saying she was just like her momma. I had to eat those words. We called the girls back in and asked who said it and YEP it was my little Princess that uttered the words. It is funny because nothing makes me refuse to do something like whining. NOTHING. I can't stand whining at all. I guess she felt like she had won a huge battle with her stellar whining skills so I let her have her moment. She almost never wins the whining wars because I usually just shut down and refuse no matter what. That doesn't stop her from whining obviously! I just hope I didn't open Pandora's box of whining wisdom. I refuse to speak whineese.

Ode' to my cell phone....
You tell me the time and even the date. You tell me my events and if I am late. You wake me up and keep me in touch. Without you I can't do much. You help with my business and my social life too! You play my music, take pics, is there nothing you can't do? Oh how I adore you cell phone, my eletronic leash. You mess with my cell phone and I cut you capiche?
Lauren's plight in her dead cell phone inspired me to write this. LOL! Poor Lauren. I thought about my cell dying and it actually scared me a bit. How sad for me that I am that addicted. I have actually turned around and went home if I have left my phone there. Granted I need it for making my appointments but it really shouldn't warrant that level of panick in me that it does. What sad little creatures of habit we have all become. What ever did we do before cell phones? Before texting? Society as a whole was a lot less annoying that is for sure! Still, I do really have a sick affection for my cell phone. "Hi. My name is Beverly and I can't go 10 minutes without my cell phone". Baby steps.

She is so sensitive
Grace wears her heart on her sleeve. Anyone who knows her knows this about her. She can not stand for someone to be upset with her or not like her. She will do whatever it takes to make it right. If she and Tali have a fight it usually ends with Grace feeling bad and crying and Tali crying because Grace is upset and crying. There are certain songs that she just can't stand to hear because she says they remind her of animals that have gone to be with Jesus. Last year we lost Fez our dog and Sauce our cat. It was so very hard for her. She can't stand for you to even mention their names. Grace did some scrapping with her Aunt Becky and Tali and T-Bird had a picture of Sauce when he was a kitten (we got Sauce from them). Grace just about started to cry. It has been since July that he has been gone and she still gets all weepy about him. I have to admit I don't really know what to do for her sometimes. My first reaction is to try to nip it in the bud and tell her to stop. I know that sounds harsh but once she gets going there is no stopping the fountain from flowing. She just cries and cries. It usually works if I can get her to control herself quickly, but if she gets that first tear out it is all over. Waterworks here we come.
She feels SO much for other people and animals. If she see's someone walking in the cold she will comment on how she wishes they didn't have to. She may see a stray cat and worry about it for the rest of the day, whether or not it has food or shelter. She really freaks if she see's an ambulance. She just about can't take not knowing if the person is ok. It makes me wonder if she will be a nurse or maybe a teacher, someone who helps other people. She really cares. It is an amazing gift and I hope she never looses the passion and compassion she feels for other people and animals. She is a prime example of child like faith and trust and I hope she never looses that either. Yes she is so sensitive but though it is hard at times I wouldn't change her for the world.

Does it have to live IN the house?
Garry has said he wanted a spider for a long time. I always said no. NEVER EVER WILL A BIG NASTY SPIDER LIVE IN MY HOUSE! Nope. Not gonna do it. Wouldn't be prudent. In your dreams Mr. Spider Lover. Then it happened. I caved. We now have a big fat hairy spider residing in the dining room. I bought the creature two weeks before Christmas and left it at the pet shop for safe keeping. I went and picked it up Christmas Eve and the pet shop guy was nice enough to put it in the tank for me. As I drove down the rode with Spidey in shotgun, all I could think about was if I was in an accident that THING would get out in the car. I couldn't wait to get home and put tape on the lid...lots of tape. It eats crickets and drinks this "blue goo" stuff that looks like blue jello. Spidey doesn't do much. He kind of just wanders around the tank and hangs out in the hallow log. I guess they can spin a web but he hasn't. That would be kind of neat to watch I guess. I expected it to try to climb the sides of the tank but it doesn't. He goes and sits in the blue goo, catches a cricket or two and just hangs out. He isn't as boring as the hermit crab but close. At least with the crab you don't have to worry about it biting you. I guess if they bite you it is kind of like a bee sting. Some people react to it and some don't. I would. I just know it. So ol' Bev won't be handling the spider. It is supposed to be very docile. That leaves me to wonder what kind of scale they used to gage how "docile" a spider is. If they bite your face off they might be a little agressive...but if they only bite your finger a little they are pretty docile? Who knows. I don't want to find out. I keep getting asked if it creeps me out to have it in the house while I sleep. No. Not really. That is some pretty sturdy tape! I guess this goes to show that I would do just about anything for my man, including living in the same house with a giant bug.

Something new every day....
I learn something new every day. It always amazes me. Here are just a few things I learned today.
1. Don't ever buy cheddar cheese and summer sausage already cut up and prepackaged. It is dry and kind of gross. Do the leg work and cut it up yourself. Lesson learned.
2. Always keep a can of de-icer in your car. I shared mine with my girls at work today. It made me feel good to help them out.
3. Understand that de-icer does NOT mean you don't still have to scrape your windows a little. It helps make it easier but doesn't make it go away like magic. Lesson learned.
4. Go in early for someone even when it can be a hardship for you. It is always worth it in the end. (THEN God puts in your last clients mind to call and reschedule because He knows your feet hurt and you have been there ALL day and you didn't want to work a 12 hr day today. He is cool like that).
5. I knew this already but relearned it today. I love Becky and Jim's kids like they are my own.
6. Lauren is my hero for bringing me hot chocolate.
7. I really like Starbucks hot chocolate. Who knew.
8. I enjoy the girls I work with. They are like my family.
9. I love Garry so much my heart could burst. I have it so good. He is an amazing husband and friend. I thank God for him.
10. I enjoy making people feel good about themselves. It is such a blessing to do what I do.
11. The ducks that hang out in the lake behind the salon are pretty funny to watch when they are walking around on the ice on the lake. Polly and I are pretty obsessed with the happenings of the ducks.
12. My mother can wrap a present like no other person I know.
13. I like my hair short.
14. I would still like to have blue in my hair. *sigh* The pink I put in didn't work.
15. Don't hang your coat on the coat rack. Someone took Jenna's (a girl I work with) coat and left their's by accident. She had her car keys in there. Doh! We called lots of ladies to see if it was them that mistakenly took it but couldn't get in touch with anyone. She had to have her husband drive from Wheatland to give her keys. Poor Jenna.
Lesson Learned.
16. I like having Grace hang out with Deborah and Brian. It is cool for her to get to see her 2 baby cousins and get to know her aunt and uncle.
17. I am still pretty obsessed with the Twilight series. I have OCD....Obsessive Cullen Disorder.
18. I can be really lazy sometimes.
19. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new camera.
20. God is good all the time, even when I don't want to know it or can't see it. He is. He has plans for me. I have known this for a very long time. It is just kind of scary to say out loud or rather type out loud :) I have to be ok with people thinking I am weird and that shouldn't be so hard...I am. In the most wonderful way. His way.
So, those are just a very few of the things I learned just today. Tomorrow is another day and more knowledge.

Um, Garry. We have a problem.
I locked myself in the car and couldn't get out....well the door was unlocked....but I still couldn't get out. It started out a normal day of errands before I had to head out to work. I went to the post office first. I just had to run in and get a few stamps so instead of dragging my luggage/purse in with me I just left it in the car and locked the door. With the letters and bills mailed I pushed the button on my key toggle to unlock the door. Nothing. Pushed it again. Still nothing. I stood there and pushed and pushed that button but it seems the battery was dead in the remote. Grrr. Oh well, don't be lazy Beverly, just go ahead and use the silly key to unlock it right? WRONG! Oh it unlocked alright. It unlocked the feaverish hatred that I like to call the car alarm. For those of you not lucky enough to witness this alarm first hand you are surely missing out. It sounds like a troup of police cars is coming for you. No regular alarms for me. Oh no sister, I have to have the deluxe model sure to scare the witts out of any intruder. I got in the car and started pushing the door lock buttons to make it stop. I had the door open and nothing I did was working. As soon as I shut the door and pushed the buttons it stopped. PHEW! Finally. I thought I was home free. I put the key in and tried to start it. ERT ERT ERT WHOOO WHOOO WHOOO! Crap :( Not again. I called Garry, "Um we have a problem." "What's that noise?!" he asks. "Well, that would be my alarm and I can't turn it off from outside of the car. The battery is dead in my key toggle. I have to push the lock button from the inside and when I try to get out or start it the alarm goes off again. I'm locked in the car". "You're locked in the car?" "Yes I am locked in the car and I need you to bring me your key toggle to disarm the alarm." *Garry's heavy sigh* "Alright I will be right there." "I love you Garry. Sorry." "Uh huh, be there as soon as I can." The poor man had to drive from Vincennes to Bicknell to bring me his set of keys to unset the alarm. Until then I was trapped in the car. If I opened the door it would set the alarm off and you can't turn it off with the door open. I guess that would keep a theif nice and cozy on the inside of the car while you call the police. Garry pulled up behind me and I hear the door click. I was saved! He just shakes his head and hands over his keys. "Only you." He says. He kissed the top of my head, got back in his truck and away he went. Not many people can say that they locked themselves IN the car. I don't think I will ever have to worry about anyone breaking in my car and if they do my alarm is sure to scare them off. OR annoy them so much that they decide it isn't worth it. Garry is my hero.

Third time is the charm
Ever give God "one of those" talks when He tells you to do something loud and clear and you just don't wanna? "I don't wanna! I Don't Wanna! I DON'T WANNA!" Then you start to barter with Him...do you think He gets a giggle out of that? I do. Ok God. If you really want me to and I mean REALLY REALLY REALLY want me to then "this" will happen. Then "that" happens and you are stuck. Now He is having a pretty good chuckle. Sometimes I even have to be shown twice (or three times). Of course He is patient and shows me again and again if I need it. I usually do. Now I know where Grace gets having to be told things three times before she does it. Grace brush your teeth. Grace have you brushed your teeth? GRACE GO BRUSH YOUR TEETH NOW! Now I know how He feels when he has to tell me a billion times. I think He is a little more patient than me though!

Secret Gift for Seth
Grace and I bought Seth a wonderful gift and we can't wait to give it to him on Sunday. I will give you loyal blog readers a few hints....it is something you wear. It's cute so he might hate it. (Since it comes from a little girl that means he will have to wear it or break her little heart.) Here is another clue...she found it at Wal-Mart. Stumped aren't ya! I think it is pretty cool and even cooler that Grace just HAD to get it for him. LOL! So, go ahead fellow bloggers guess away. I know Lauren will love this most and maybe Carol too. If you guess right I will tell you but you have to promise to keep the secret! No general guesses you have to be dead on or I won't tell you and you will have to wait like everyone else :) Muahahaha Muahahaha haaaaaaaa!

My life may seem a little messy looking from the outside in. Trust me, I know where everthing is at :)
